Senate Hearings to be held next week on firing of EPA Region V Administrator
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D Rhode Island) will be leading an oversight hearing into the politicization of the EPA and the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Region V EPA Administrator Mary Gade. You can watch Senator Whitehouse's comments from yesterday on YOUTUBE.
The politicization of Dow Chemical's dioxin contamination needs a thorough vetting at all levels of government. Gade's firing is right on the heels of a senate committee which is reviewing a report that says the Bush administration is hampering the ability of Environmental Protection Agency scientists to assess the health dangers of toxic chemicals.

John Dingell, D-Detroit, ordered his oversight staff on Friday to look into a charge by the top Midwest official of the Environmental Protection Agency that she was forced out because she was aggressively pushing Dow Chemical Co. to clean up dioxin contamination in a 52-mile stretch of waterway that dumps into Saginaw Bay.
